Dental Surgery

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the SRM Kattankulathur Dental College Hospital specializes in treating many diseases, injuries, and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws, and the hard and soft tissues of the mouth. It is an internationally recognized surgical specialty, depending upon the jurisdiction; maxillofacial surgeons may require training in dentistry, surgery, and general medicine. All surgeons must obtain a university degree in dentistry before beginning residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In the department of OMFS, we learn to give anaesthesia which is required for most of the procedures done in the department. They deal with the removal of impacted teeth, and the management of fractures related to the head and neck regions. Implant placement, management of head and neck cancer, and management of any malocclusions. The department has an outstanding library and brilliant staff that guide and teach the students to become great dentists. The various cases in the department give great exposure and an amazing learning experience. The department has highly qualified staff with great experience, training students for a better future.
